Bills Release Undrafted Punter Jack Browning

Bills release undrafted punter Jack Browning

Sam Martin regains starting role

Haack released from practice squad

The Buffalo Bills have released undrafted rookie punter Jack Browning, clearing the way for veteran Sam Martin to regain his starting role.

Martin, who has been with the Bills since 2014, lost his starting job to Browning in training camp. However, Browning struggled in the preseason, averaging just 39.3 yards per punt. Martin, on the other hand, averaged 45.5 yards per punt in the preseason.

The Bills also released punter Matt Haack from the practice squad. Haack was signed to the practice squad after Browning was released.

Martin is expected to start for the Bills in their season opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday.

In a recent interview, Martin said that he is "play(ing) for results, not averages." He added that he is "focused on helping the team win games." Martin's mantra is sure to resonate with Bills fans, who are hoping for a big season from their punter.
