Atletico Madrid Vs Borussia Dortmund

Atlético Madrid Hold Off Borussia Dortmund to Take First Leg Advantage in Champions League Quarterfinals

Sebastien Haller's late goal gives German side hope heading into second leg

Atletico Madrid took a 2-1 lead in their Champions League quarterfinal tie against Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday, but the German side will head into the second leg with hope after Sebastien Haller's late goal.

Atletico took the lead in the 33rd minute through Marcos Llorente, who finished off a fine team move involving Joao Felix and Antoine Griezmann. Borussia Dortmund equalized just before halftime through Jude Bellingham, who curled a superb effort into the top corner.

The second half was a cagey affair, with both sides struggling to create clear-cut chances. However, Atletico eventually grabbed the winner in the 85th minute through Ángel Correa, who tapped home from close range after a good cross from Yannick Carrasco.

Borussia Dortmund pushed for a late equalizer, and they were rewarded in the 90th minute when Haller headed home from a corner. However, it was too little too late for the German side, and they will need to win by at least two goals in the second leg to progress to the semifinals.

The second leg of the tie will be played at the Signal Iduna Park in Dortmund on April 12.
