According to the 2022 Adult Obesity Prevalence Maps, the South is home to many of the counties with the highest rates of adult obesity. The maps show the proportion of adults with obesity in each state, the District of Columbia, and three US Territories.

Adult obesity is a chronic condition that puts individuals at increased risk of hypertension, heart disease, type 2 diabetes, breathing problems, and chronic kidney disease. The prevalence of obesity among US adults 20 and over was 41.9% during 2017–March 2020.
The maps and data can be used to identify areas with high rates of obesity and to develop targeted interventions to reduce obesity rates.
