Who is Daredevil?

Matthew Michael "Matt" Murdock is a lawyer and vigilante who was blinded as a young boy when radioactive waste spilled into his eyes. This accident gave him heightened senses, including the ability to "see" with radar-like precision. As Daredevil, Murdock fights crime in the gritty Hell's Kitchen neighborhood of New York City.

Origin and Early Life

The son of boxer Battlin Jack Murdock, Matt grew up in the impoverished Hell's Kitchen neighborhood. His father was killed in a boxing match, and Matt was raised by his mother, a devout Catholic. As a child, Matt was bullied for his blindness, but he developed a strong sense of justice and a determination to protect the innocent.

When he was 12 years old, Matt was blinded by radioactive waste while saving a man from an oncoming truck. The accident gave him extraordinary senses, including a radar-like ability to "see" the world around him. With the help of his friend, Foggy Nelson, Matt went on to law school and became a successful lawyer.

Becoming Daredevil

After graduating from law school, Matt became aware of the rampant crime and corruption in Hell's Kitchen. Inspired by the memory of his father, he decided to use his abilities to fight for justice. He created the costume of Daredevil, a red and black suit with devil-like horns, and began patrolling the streets.
