Verona were keen on returning back to winning ways right in front of their home crowd after their away draw with Atalanta in their opening fixture against Torino. Ivan Juric's Torino side also came into this matchday aiming to continue their perfect start to the Serie A season after their home win over newly-promoted Monza at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino, in Turin.
Torino started the match looking the more dangerous of the two sides, and they were rewarded for their early pressure when Aleksei Miranchuk opened the scoring in the 7th minute. Verona responded well to going behind, and they leveled the match through a Kevin Lasagna goal 12 minutes later. The match continued to be played at a high tempo, with both sides creating chances. However, it was Torino who took the lead once again in the 32nd minute when Antonio Sanabria scored.

However, Torino were not to be denied, and they grabbed a late winner in the 87th minute through Wilfried Singo. The win gives Torino six points from their opening two matches, while Verona have four points from their opening two matches.
